How it works
Jones Gardens is a nonprofit which builds community gardens on vacant plots throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Our first projects are on Montgomery Ave in Staunton, VA. The inaugural project was built in 2021 as a community garden park, designed to serve as a recreational food oasis and a community hub/gathering space. Our expansion garden diagonally across the street, started in the spring of 2023. There is where we'll focus on growing even more food to support our Staunton community.
Our gardens are designed to be a welcoming recreational area where all are welcome to frequent just as they would a city park!We want these gardens to be a place that is entirely maintained by the direct community. When community members help out they have free access to all produce grown. Those who are not able to help out may purchase produce SUPER CHEAP on our Market Days (Fridays 3pm-6pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm) |
Your food scraps are currency at Jones Gardens! Learn about our Composting program. We host various workshops, called Garden Labs, in which the community can walk away with susainability knowledge that they can apply at home. Learn more about them here! |
JONES GARDEN IS YOUR GARDEN!
From our leadership to our volunteers, we not only seek to represent the diverse members of our community, but we ensure our community is folded into our decision-making and operations. Our gardens are a place where individuals of all backgrounds may come to find pleasure and fulfillment and we strive to maintain this culture for years to come.
